We must be proactive. There is no guarantee the public will have an opportunity to speak at this meeting or if there will be a follow up hearing. The Plan Commission will be voting to either favorably/unfavorably recommend the new solar ordinance to the Commissioners. In other words, the vote will either preserve or destroy our farming future.

Reach Out to Members of our Plan Commission

Hopefully, the Jefferson County Plan Commission will engage in meaningful discussions on all proposed amendments to the solar ordinance, including those presented at the hearing on  6/10/2025, as well as every concerned voiced by the citizens they are appointed to represent.

To help our plan commission, we are providing a copy of Solar Ordinance already adopted by Madison County that has been proven and passed the threat of solar developers to litigate anything they deem too restrictive, while protecting the non-participating land owners and public. This is the primary task of the plan commission, to protect the health, safety, welfare of our citizens through the Unified Development Ordinance.

Let’s try to reconcile the differences between the county’s last amended ordinance presented at the June 10th hearing with the proposed changes addressed by our concerned citizens. Now, lets take a look a working solar ordinance that does it all.
