Jefferson County Passes a One Year Moratorium on Utility-Scale Solar Projects
Thanks to the tenacity and fervent prayers of our dedicated community, our Commissioner’s heard you loud and clear! Effective immediately the commissioners passed a moratorium (stopping or suspension) of all new commercial/industrial utility-scale solar projects in Jefferson County. This is a great victory!
The moratorium will last for one year or until the technical committee completes the updates to our solar ordinance, whichever occurs first.
Unfortunately, Orion’s application was already submitted and according to the county attorney, their BZA special use application will advance to the special use hearing on Oct 1, 2024 at Ivy Tech College in Madison. Our group will be walking you through the process so you are well prepared. Faith or fear! Armor up for the battle ahead.
